Family write new chapter

Emilie and her husband Shammi were drawn to Slepe Hall from the moment they saw it. “It was the magnetism of the building,” says Shammi, “there is nothing else like it in the area.”

They took over just a month ago, but in that time have been busy updating the restaurant menus and broadening their appeal, all the while sticking to an ethos of fresh, locally sourced

“We believe in innovation, and aren’t afraid of change, but our aim is to tweak the existing good reputation that Slepe Hall has built up over the years,”

“I’ve been going through the menu and getting my two boys’ input,” Emilie says. “They can be quite fussy eaters, but we got them to try things they might not usually, like the tempura halloumi, and they loved it.”

The new menu features a wide range of tasty, affordable dishes served in the relaxed, informal bar. These include the Superfood Salad – of pomegranate, mixed leaves, walnuts, pumpkin seeds,
cherry tomatoes, quinoa and cucumber – a dish designed by Emilie and inspired by her experience as a fitness instructor.

For those seeking comfort food rather than a health kick, however, there’s still plenty to please, with classic nachos, homemade sausage and mash, and traditional fish and chips all
also making appearances on the bar menu.

The more formal restaurant, meanwhile, is where guests can enjoy gourmet food at reasonable prices. Sea bass fillets with a saffron risotto and lobster bisque made from fresh lobster, for
example, is just £18.

So, if you’ve not visited lately, maybe now is the time to come and dine with us either chilled out in the bar or more formally in the restaurant.
